The Residential Institutions Redress Board has put in place a revised Protected Disclosures policy developed in line with the Protected Disclosures Act 2014 and Protected Disclosures (Amendment) Act 2022 .<\/p><p>This policy was approved by the Residential Institutions Redress Board in March 2023.<\/p><p>The purpose of this policy is to encourage and facilitate avenues for employees, Board Members and\/or Legal Advisors to the Board to raise concerns within the workplace of the Residential Institutions Redress Board so that appropriate action can be taken.<\/p><p>The Chairman and the Board of the Residential Institutions Redress Board are committed to fostering an appropriate environment for addressing concerns relating to potential wrongdoing in the workplace and to providing the necessary support and protections for staff to raise concerns.<\/p><p>Under this policy, any employee, Board Member and\/or Legal Advisor is entitled to raise concerns or issues or to disclose information\u00a0<u>without fear of penalisation or the threat of less favourable treatment, discrimination or disadvantage.<\/u><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5ebec01 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"5ebec01\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">What is a protected disclosure?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-67eff64 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"67eff64\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>A protected disclosure is a\u00a0<strong>disclosure of information<\/strong>\u00a0which, in the\u00a0<strong>reasonable belief<\/strong>\u00a0of a worker, tends to show one or more\u00a0<strong>relevant wrongdoings<\/strong>\u00a0that came to the attention of the worker in a\u00a0<strong>work-related context<\/strong>\u00a0and is disclosed in the manner prescribed in the Protected Disclosures Act<br \/>2014:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishstatutebook.ie\/eli\/2014\/act\/14\/enacted\/en\/print.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.irishstatutebook.ie\/eli\/2014\/act\/14\/enacted\/en\/print.html<\/a><br \/>as amended by the Protected Disclosures (Amendment) Act<br \/>2022:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishstatutebook.ie\/eli\/2022\/act\/27\/enacted\/en\/print.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.irishstatutebook.ie\/eli\/2022\/act\/27\/enacted\/en\/print.html<\/a><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-983f054 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"983f054\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Who can make a protected disclosure?\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-48a0093 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"48a0093\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishstatutebook.ie\/eli\/2022\/act\/27\/enacted\/en\/print#sec4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Section 3 of the Protected Disclosures Act<\/a>\u00a0defines a worker as an individual who has acquired information on a relevant wrongdoing in a work-related context.<\/p><p>Any worker under Section 3 of the Protected Disclosures Act who wishes to raise concerns within the workplace of the Residential Institutions Redress Board can do so by emailing\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:protecteddisclosures@rirb.ie\">protecteddisclosures@rirb.ie<\/a><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-18df241 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"18df241\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Making a protected disclosure to a Government Minister and\/or Ministers of State\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-abe4488 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"abe4488\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Disclosures received by Ministers and Ministers of State are required to be forwarded to the Protected Disclosures Commissioner. The department will endeavour to transmit the disclosure to the Protected Disclosures Commissioner within 10 calendar days of receipt.
